On a sheltered cove west of Chania town, Domes Zeen reads less like a hotel than a contemporary Cretan village. Berlin studio Lambs and Lions arranged its bungalows, pavilions and villas around a central agora — a nod to the old kafeneion — and clad them in concrete, timber and rattan, all earthy neutrals and barefoot ease.
The AHEAD-awarded design opens to private terraces, gardens and Aegean views; many rooms add a private or shared pool. A private beach and two pools — separate adult and family zones — anchor the days, with the old town a short walk away.
The kitchen, led by chef Dionysios Pliatsikas, works a neo-Greek register rooted in Cretan produce. The all-day Beach House runs from breakfast to dinner, while a second restaurant pushes into fine dining — a table recognised with a MICHELIN Key in 2025.
Design resorts can feel like showrooms; this one is warm, walkable and genuinely Cretan, with a kitchen that takes the island seriously.
